  1. That’s happening anywhere not only in the Philippines. All you need to do is be more Smart. Don’t go to the club or bar. if I want to drink a wine or beers I always chose Hotel, Restaurant or at Home.
And one more thing Chose provinces like Tagaytay City very near to Manila have fun in the restaurants and hotels no one will cheat on you like Manila. I’m Filipino but I don’t like staying in Manila too crowded and hot

    1. Noel Sevilla same i never drink in any bar and i dont drink with guys..you’ll never know..lol..and yeah tagaytay is a very good place to hang around..safer not polluted not crowded like manila and high end..travel down of tagaytay and there are lots of beautiful beaches..well im proud coz its my place?

  2. Just returned home from three weeks in the Philippines. I did my homework before departure. Upon exiting the terminal was approached by a porter. He wanted to take my bag and point me to a taxi. I carried my own bag but followed him out to the taxi area. Anyway, the taxi he brings me to proceeds to tell me to get to my hotel, about 30 minutes away, was going to be 4450 Pesos. I just had to start laughing. As I walked away the porter then demanded a tip for his time. I had a tip for him but no Pesos were involved. My taxi ride was 250 Pesos. Traveler beware.

    1. +stephen gordon you have buses running between terminals. the buses are internal airport buses but you will be expected to pay 20 pesos

    2. +stephen gordon providing your streetwise and u follow the above rules…..it’s quite safe……I’ve been held at gunpoint…attempted mugged…smashed in the head with a bottle…!multiple fights….robbed and pickpocked…NOT in the phillipines but in Europe……..enjoy ur trip….AND wear ur ‘helmet’

    3. Yeah the porter is a good example of a filipino. Wanting cash for pointing a person to a queue of taxi’s. Payment for nothing.

    4. A good way to get them off your back is to tell them you have some relatives waiting outside to give you a ride. And when they ask the guaranteed most common question, “Is this your first time in the PI”, Of course you never want to admit if it is, I always reply emphatically, “Oh Hell No, I live here with my wife and kids! I have a business down in Cebu! I’m just returning from a short visit to the States”.

  3. AVOID THESE PLACE LIKE MANIL, PASAY, MAKATI, QUEZON CITY… STAY IN THE PROVINCE AREA

  4. I don’t trust anybody. I’m always cautious and aware of my surroundings. The way my brain works everyone is after with no good. Even though that i grew up in the city i still was scummed with so called friends. It happened to me once, but never again will trust no one.

  5. This is so true! I go home to the Philippines too and this dam* scams happens especially those girls using western men for money.., so to all westerns and non-filipino guys if you’re dating a Filipino girl makes sure she doesn’t ask you for any gifts or money! That’s a serious scam! Or maybe a filipino friend who’ll simply create a story drama asking you to lend him or her the money he/she is asking for learn how to say NO. No offense just being honest as a Filipina my self, I am not GENERALIZING all of us here fellow FIlipina girls, you girls know what I’m talking about and I always warn my generous Indian boyfriend and my other foreign friends about this.., thank you for posting this Sir. This will be helpful for our foreign visitors 🙂 we appreciate your full honesty.

    1. just came back from manila met my gf for the 1st time i had the best time of my life nothing bad happened

    2. Dude Manila is amazing, im a filipino but Im born and living in the Middle East. I only go there a few times when its like holidays for me (and sometimes for choreography dance camps). When I go there Im usually happy cause the place to go around is beautiful. My biggest “Have to visit!” reason is for the anime and comic merchs, they have good places for getting costumes, awesomes stores for manga’s and comics as well as Blu-ray/ DVD animes. Getting also musics there have sweet deals, foods are up charts every time go there. I mostly enjoy the arcades there because in the Middle East, you can’t find places where you could play games like Street Fighter and Tekken in an arcade cabinet. Manila is a great place, especially at the other parts in the Philippines like Boracay (its got a beautiful beach!). The people and tourists there who are getting scammed sometimes doesn’t know what the heck they are doing. Got a friend there, American living there 5 years now and his a dance teacher, his loving the place around Manila.

    1. Just don’t travel at all because tourist scams are EVERYWHERE.  Since, you don’t have any common sense, just stay home.

    1. Joy Division like any part of a major city there are bad areas….these idiots are fckin Exaggerating!!! ???

  6. sound advice mate. ive been to Philippines so many times I caught a white taxi twice from terminal 3 before the new ground floor taxi rank in operation. The first one gave me a mystery tour for about an hour when we got there I disputed the meter and gave him what I call  decent fare. The 2nd one stopped at a gas station and asked me for 500 php for gas I refused and this time I had a printed map he said he had eye problems. When we finally got there he demanded 300php. I got out of the cab with my bags and threw 200 php on the seat and went into my hotel, Last trip I caught again from the new taxi rank in terminal 3 which is regulated and the meter was 130 PHP. Just be strong with any scammer and just ignore and walk on your way. Otherwise you will soon be parted from your hard earned. Just expect the unexpected and don’t ever leave your belongings out of eyeshot. In general Philippinos are very honest decent people but of course there are always those trying to take advantage of someone at the airport and of course if you are drinking you are again leaving yourself wide open. Personally in 14 trips I can honestly say apart from white taxi drivers in manila very positive about the Philippines.

    1. 1 thing I saw was that showing up at the airport drunk they can deny you entry and send you on the 1st plane back! I live in Scandinavia drinking even in the morning and all through the flight is considered normal the airport here is the only place that sells alcohol before 9 am alot of travelers show up drunk at their destinations so dont do that if going to the Philippines

    2. +tez no its a 23hr flight drinks on layovers and during the flight and tiredness may exagerate how many drinks you have had. In Europe its customary to drink while waiting to board alot of small bars in airports, complimentary drinks on board – to get sent straight back on a 23hr flight would be a huge waste of money and a ruined vacation

    3. +tez That”s good advice Ive only travelled in Europe usually for summer resort destinations. and almost everyone drinks from Scandinavia before and during the flights, some people after just 2 or 3 drinks look drunker than they are (Im that way I dont drink heavy) Ive never thought about being – sent back at the airport so Im glad I found that rule, I also cant sleep sitting or on a plane so 23 hrs awake smelling like beer after 2-3 cans maybe a bit more landing in Manila and being sent back would be a shock – they really should advise about this more, because its so common in Scandinavia and something you wouldnt normally think about

    4. +tez Yes I try to know whats culturally acceptable and what isnt I heard indoor smoking is allowed in restaurants and bars in the Philippines? Here even outdoor areas can be smoke free and smoking say at a bus stop could result in a stern lecture, by a non-smoker

    1. Non-white people get scammed too you know, esp. those who are not fluent in English, East Asians get scammed here more easily than whites.

    1. Not really. Best to know the price of your transport. Be travel wise. Dont believe anyone who gives a reason for money. Its a lie. An honest person with integrity and they exist in the phils, will never ask for cash. People lie about their family members dying or needing an op. Will sell their own grand mother if need be. Dont tip people if they ask for a tip. Only travel in meter taxi’s. Best of all, avoid manila. No real reason for a person to go there unless they know someone in luzon. Best to fly into another port such as cebu, kalibo or davao. Manila is basically a dump. Hot chicks but a dump. No beach, heaps of pollution, plenty of slums around. I would hate to see the so called slum area cos everywhere is a slum. When landing in manila, the joint looks like a war zone from above. Been heavily bombed. Like iraq.

  7. they say Pinoys love to smile, hospitable, funny etc…. but the truth
is all that goodness of Pinoys there’s darkness… the word is “PLASTIK”
Pinoys are fake….Pinoys are racist… if ur caucasian they like you
    but if u have a dark skin… ugh u know what i mean……

    1. Oh you are spot on correct! And they will be fake to your face even when it’s obvious to you that they are playing you. Sometimes I just want to say, ” C,mon, Do you really think I am that stupid?” … I believe that they really do think we are this stupid. They think it’s really easy to fool us. I can’t speak for other’s, but They don’t fool me! And racist, Yes. And that goes for us White asses as well. Do they really like us, or is it just a front? I think that’s fake as well. They only like what we have. Or shall I say, what they believe we have. $$$$$ That’s why It’s guaranteed that for just about anything and everything that can be bought in the PI, there are 2 prices. The Filipino price, and the American price. And you know which group gets the better deal! If that’s not racism, then I don’t know what is! Can you imagine how much trouble we’d be in as Americans if we tried to do business this way with Filipino nationals when they came to the USA! They’d be broadcasting our mug shot on national news, reporting this as a hate crime.

    2. Drexder Kogz I’m a Pinoy, and what ur saying is kinda true and kinda not for some reason and just to let u know that ur comment actually hurt Filipinos feeling so don’t ever say that again!

    3. all you said is true, but seriously man it’s just a reflection of YOURSELF.. Apl de Ap had dark skin he was loved and respect there..

  8. I have been to 48 different nations and out of them all the place with the most scams has been the Philippines. Even had employees there rip me off, steal from me – even when they were very well taken care of.

The Philippines is going to hell in a hand-basket.

    1. Jason Wilson and what country are you from? U.S.? UK? You have fucking scammers in every country. Yeaaa blame the whole country ???? fucking idiots!!! Yea your government is scamming all you dumb fcking voters!!!

    2. Wow the whole Filipino race is gonna pay for a few scammers??? you are scumbag youtuber…go back to ausssie ausssie so great there you left!!! Fcking idiot ????

    3. You dealt with wrong Filipinos and visited wrong places. Next time you come avoid people who promise heavens to you. Be good in judging characters because anywhere you go there are wolves in human form. Be assured however, that even in the Philippines, the good ones dominates the population.

    1. Cherim u been to columbia ? is dangerous however there are few other places more worse than Columbia. The phils is not one of those. Brazil and Mexico would high on the list.

    2. I would have been dead years ago if this was true. Just don’t go alone to Tondo and stay away from Sulu for aslong as ASG exists and you’ll be fine

  9. Been to the Philippines a bunch. Never been scammed, but had a few try. The taxi scam is real. Just insist that they turn on the meter or get out of the cab. Money changers at the airport have good exchange rates. Your exchange rate will go down when you leave the city for the province. Also, they prefer crisp $100 bills. Any defect, rip, blemish or mark on the note and they will not take it. Don’t use your credit card in the Philippines at all, except at bank ATMs. If you are a foreigner, never negotiate rates or prices. Let your Filipino companion negotiate while you are out of sight. If they think a foreigner is involved in the transaction, the price will go up. Just keep your eyes open and be aware of your surroundings at all times. Mostly have fun. The Philippines is a blast…

    1. Excellent. Your actions should be followed by others regarding the scum taxi drivers in the phils. I don’t believe there is a law for a passenger to pay a driver what amt he asks or pay the driver for wasting your time. Maybe u could have kicked the car as a passing gesture.

  10. As a Filipino national, this is true mostly in Manila but not all city in the philippines though. Stay away from manila as possible

  11. I met a Filipina online; visited her and her family a few times. I then sold my lake front house in the USA and moved to Manila. I bought a new house in Laguna Bel Air III and lived with her entire family in the new house. I invested in many businesses for the family (3 jeepneys, sari-sari store, internet cafe and a loan business). I lived in Sta Rosa for 18 Months and then I needed to go back to the USA to file personal income taxes and other personal business. While I was gone my wife went to the bank and emptied the account. Joy went on ‘vacation’ with all of the money I had left in our CitiBank account. My wife had a good time with her boyfriend in the Philippines while I was in the USA. I forgave my wife and worked on her immigration papers to live in the USA. My wife came to the USA with a green card and six Months later she left me one final time wanting a divorce. While I was in the away from our bedroom, my now ex-wife wrote down all of the credit card information and tried to use my credit cards while she was in the Philippines visiting family. My ex-wife admits to three different extramarital affairs (only because I saw pictures of her with these men). Joy’s bff, told me it was more like 12 different guys over the six year marriage. My ex-wife had a heart murmur and could not breathe well; thanks to me and my money, she had surgery and is healthy now and living in the USA. I wasted well over $200,000 USD on her. The house in Laguna Bel Air III is now for sale….

    1. Sorry but I have not heard a person as stupid as you. its harsh but I cannot find any other word to describe you. Now, use your head. Buy her life insurance for 400,000 dollars. hahahaha

    2. You’re an idiot!! How stupid are you for forgiving your wife after she emptied your bank account and fucked another guy. You should put a gun to your head and blow your brains out you tool!
