Yeah it happened with me once ..the taxi driver changed the 100lira bill to 20 ..i was so shocked and it was dark so .. i just gave him another with but like i was super sure that i gave him 100 .. be sure guys ..
Dont waste your time with taxi cabs, I met an american at the airport he was pissed in that his taxi from taksim to SAW sabiha airport the taxi cab driver forced him to pay 650 lira. What I learned in instanbul never take a taxi, always take the metro, or uber, or bus. A bus ride from taksim to saw sabiha airport is only 15 lira on a nice fancy fast bus called havina. Almost every 30 min there is a bus at the airport waiting to pick you up.
If you take a cab from the street you’re very likely to get taken advantage of in any tourist area. If you let your hotel call you a taxi then you’ll do much better.
