  1. These guys are ALL over Italy, in every city we visited last year. They are like annoying gnats. They tried the bracelet scam with me. “No thanks” and keep on walking, avoid eye contact. But one got me. In Florence. He acted all friendly, introducing himself, saying he was from Africa and wanted to give me a gift. It was a small figurine of an elephant and it was a “friendship gift”. I did not want to take it but he was persistent in handing it to me. Even though I’m aware of scams – this guy was just so friendly, he tricked me into stopping & listening to him. Anyway….after I took the stupid elephant, then of course he wanted money. So….learn from me: DO NOT STOP! Do not worry about being rude. In Milan, when I wouldn’t stop, one of these guys actually put a bracelet on my shoulder. He touched me with it. I went from being annoyed to being pissed at that point. I YELLED at him “DO NOT TOUCH ME!” and my husband yelled at him too. By that time, after a week into our trip in Italy, it was tiring trying to avoid these gnats. It’s too bad the police there don’t do something about them. It really put a damper on my vacation.

In Milan a black guy gave me a free bracelet and then said give me the money
He cut the band with a knife so we knew he was armed and had to pay ?

    2. They’re all over southern Europe, including France, along with Roma/gypsies who are even worse (pickpockets and theft). The governments are way too lax on this, so it just keeps getting worse. I don’t know why they aren’t more aggressive in cracking down on it. It ruins the experience for tourists, makes their countries look bad, lowers their own quality of life (they don’t just target tourists, especially Roma pickpockets), attracts bad people, does not give criminals any incentive to get a real job and make an honest living, etc.

    1. Moo Yo not exactly… although it doesn’t get to the point as described in the title it is explained later but always make sure to be suspicious about everyone and develop situational awareness, know who is around you and who they are with or if you are surrounded always be suspicious

    1. They’re mostly Roma / gypsies but in some regions there are many black streets scammers. They at least aren’t known for pickpocketing, stealing peoples cell phones, and stealing money from people at ATMs, unlike Roma/gypsies.

    2. You know, he’s right. Gypsyes are the worst. I’m Romanian and have lived in my country day after day trying to avoid getting robbed, scammed etc before they flew to western Europe. Now Romania feels like heaven on earth. We still have some, but much less compared to what we used to and what other countries have now.

    1. The Lazy Gamer yeah they’re very annoying here in NYC but you just have to say no thanks and keep walking they won’t follow you

    2. They do it to tourists on Hollywood Blvd. As if Jay-Z or Puff Daddy got famous by selling crappy CDs to tourists. The best thing to do is ignore them.

    3. They aren’t rappers. They just claim to be. It’s just a NYC street scam of its own. Avoid them. They can be very aggressive.

    1. YooJuan Lopez thats actually a good idea i never thought if it that way. I used to yell at them in Persian, i always said stuff like go away ir i’ll bring my cross and gasoline. But your method is the best so far, they get mindfucked and i get €20.

  2. You guys from Asia, US and other developed regions need to learn one trick — a pepper spray. Works perfect for me, every time, trust me.

  3. I am an African and bear with me what they are doing is completely illegal and stupid, especially wanting to play the racist victim game so people can feel guilty by not wanting to talk or accept anything from them. I don’t support this and I can wait for them to be taken off those streets. If you want to feed yourself from tourist do it the right way, don’t be a pest. These guys are making Italy look so filthy and scary to tourists. I am completely against such attitude.

  4. I never let anyone I don’t know touch me. You never know what their intentions are or what they’re carrying. Especially if they’re black.
