UPDATE: I have since notified the Vienna Police Department regarding this discovery as at the time of the incident I did not have access to an international phone by which I could report this.

UPDATE #2: If you look at these pictures, you can see the Small camera above the ATM Sticker that I missed (Thanks to Ali Rahmoun's spoof of my video we have something to compare my screenshots with):

UPDATE #3: This story has since been picked up by FOX5 News, here's the link to the interview we did:

Finding an ATM Skimmer on vacation at the Samsung Cash Machine outside St. Steven's cathedral in Vienna, Austria

While on vacation with my family in Vienna, Austria I went to grab some cash from an ATM, being security paranoid I went repeated my typical habit of checking the card reader as I have 100's of times… today's the day when my security awareness paid off! Check out how perfectly made this skimmer is that was custom made for this ATM MACHINE!

    1. “It pays to be paranoid” is also the perfect slogan for a cyber security company lmao

    1. Tarkan Seleker he was saying that the guy was a hero and filmed vertically

    2. Hi my name is Daddy, what is your name? Shut up you fucking twat at least thank him you motherfuckers always find something to complain about

    3. The purpose of the video is not for visual entertainment, but instead to promote the fake skimmers so people will not be fooled by them.

    1. I think only millenial could call this a joke because they never take life serious like you…

    2. Richie Mckie he said that I don’t take life serious now you calm down would you calm down if someone told you that

  1. The glue wasn’t the only indicator. There wasn’t a lock symbol on the fake skimmer for those who didn’t notice.

    1. But you see the lock symbol of the original one right through ist. So you have to look close to see that there is something wrong with it.

    2. point is, 90% of people dont,so if u can steal from 90% then why would any thief care.. u know what i mean? …

    1. David isn’t this a scammer you meant to say? I honestly should shut up because I don’t live in Germany but I’ve been there for a class trip

    2. David it’s on the number pad things to (or whatever they’re called ) I’ve seen things and people but fake ones on to steal your money

    1. Filming vertically is much bigger issue than theft??? Is your stupidity genuine or can it be skimmed too…???

  2. Why are you all saying he’s going to make skimmers now? After he just told everyone how to check for them? That would be a complete waste, like if a hacker sent you a download to an antivirus software along with a virus.

    1. It’s a phone, obviously he’s going to hold it in portrait mode when he’s holding it with one hand

    2. Nemesi …you’re absolutely right! People are like ” oh, I CANT BELIEVE he didnt record it in 3D IMAX format, then have a Hollywood film crew edit it.” ?

  3. for those who think this is fake, read the description and educate yourself instead of being ignorant.

    1. In other words, if you think something on the internet is fake, read about it on the internet. That’ll show em.

    2. Zippy Ragu how do you find out any current events without the internet now? *props for that reply*

    3. it is fake…and his claim of there being a camera is fake also. there would have to be a large storage drive to record all the pins and video data which simply a tiny lip couldnt obscure

  4. Am i right with my assumption that this skimmer would´nt work on credit/debit cards which have a chip on them ? (like most do nowadays AFAIK). The magnetic track that gets read and copied by the skimmer device is of not much value , even together with the pin. Or am i wrong here?

    1. lol youd hope but NOPE all that security is handled in the reader the reader will always demand a chip and pin if the card supports it but if the reader doesnt support it the track data can be used

look it up on youtube defcon did some talks on hacking cards and skimming and go in depth about it

    2. There was a camera installed above where you typed in your PIN, which means that the thieves had acces to both the card and the PIN number. Be careful

    3. The magnetic strip on most of my debit/credit cards are mostly gone. So if any thief is trying to get my info, there not getting anything.

  5. Ever since I’ve seen this video I always grab the atm card slot to see if it wiggles around, thank you for this video!

    1. Why do people edit their comments to say how many likes it gets? It already says that next to the like button.

    2. Mxdanger Gaming I usually don’t. Here my original comment was regarding likes/dislikes. Also thank you for noticing. ?

  6. This is why I own no credit cards and do not use banks at all. I lost a lot of money years ago, to a bank, “error,” due to fraud. Now I haved a remote safe. There are never any fees of any sort, no, “bank errors,” no maximum withdrawal limit. I should have done it long ago. My grandfather was right. Make no debt, except for your home mortgage, pay everything cash. If you can not afford something cash, do not buy it. Do everything most people pay a,”professional,” to do. Learn to do everything you can. You will do a much better job than a, “professional,” clock puncher that rushes through a job. Realise that you can do anything a, “professional,” can do. All you have to do is learn it. Buy as may tools as you can.

I have done nothing with credit since 2000. It is bliss.

    1. Indrid Cold Sorry I was born in 2000. My finances class taught us about the FDIC. I didn’t know it was that unreliable.

    2. justin ritchie I do not need one. I used then from 1996 to 2000. They posed no benefit, nor financial gain.

I just copy pasted your comment

    1. Easy to imagine. How many available marketplaces do you think there actually are for individuals to just create and launch successful products into them? As someone who does that (or tries to) I can tell you there aren’t many, and the ones there are are mostly dominated by huge corporations. Niche success stories exist but they’re rare, and take a huge amount of work, smarts, luck and determination to pull off.

Black markets are lucrative because industriousness only plays a small part, the rest is willingness to break the law, going underground, keeping secrets etc. Copying (approximately) the geometry of a couple of plastic parts is no big deal for a black market retailer, and the design/assembly of the circuitboard, while it may appear complicated, the only difficult part is the initial board layout. You can get that done on a one time commission by a third party and after that you’re just having replica boards assembled, again almost invariably by a third party from the one who ultimately puts the product on the market.
