Click Here And Learn How To Avoid Scams Online
In our video Thailand 2016 – Common scams & how to avoid them we show you the 5 most common scams in Thailand and the best ways to avoid them. I've been traveling in Thailand for the last three months and nearly all my experiences have been positive. Thailand is a beautiful and amazing country. If you stay on the right side of the law and use common sense in can be very safe. The intention of this video isn't to scare tourists away. It is to educate them about common scams conducted by a small amount of unscrupulous people. In this video I talk about
1. The scooter scam – You rent a scooter but you have to leave your passport with the person you rented it from. Upon returning the scooter they accuse you of doing damage that you didn't do. The person that rented the scooter will then demand huge amounts of money and refuse to give your passport back unless you pay. If you were smart and took photo's of the scooter before you rented it there is a good possibility the Thai tourist police will be able to resolve the issue and help you get your passport back. If you're not so lucky and are unable to prove that you didn't damage the scooter there is a high probably you will be forced to pay exorbitant amounts for it's repair.
> “I’ve been living in Thailand for 3 months…” – What do you do down there ? 😮
7 months in now and i am sure he is learning he loves dicks on chicks. lol in a few more months he will have his removed and a few after that shemale and him will get hitched as knockoff lesbos. yup just no telling how genius some clever dicks can get in the course of a few months in thailand.

You’re telling people where to buy a joint. nice lol
+Keyframe5 Forget about it,It’s too risky.
Anyone who needs to consume drugs while in a tropical beach paradise has very, very serious problems.
Weed is fun to consume anywhere if you don’t get caught.
+David Hay Weed is for poor people.
+Bruce Frausto Wiz khalifa is pretty poor I know
stop buying shitty weed
Bob Marley was clearly deeply disturbed, People who judge other peoples personal choices have very very serious problems
I’ve been to Thailand several times. Great country but the advice in this video is dead bang on. Good job!
Marc.
Lovely country but a bunch of bastards live there too.
+Kim Jong-il indeed so.
+Baz theblue – From a person living here 15 years, DON’T ever live here!! (I’m only here for my job, that’s all) Come as a tourist if you must, (even then I’d say stay away) but save yourself a world of stress that’ll take years off your life by NOT living here if you have any level of standards and quality of life, and go to another country that’s more civilized. It’s truly a third-world mentality, even if they have glitzy malls and skytrains. The underbelly of this society is dark and ugly – trust me.
+marxxmann dont worry, you wont catch me there.
+Baz theblue And many of them are wearing uniforms 😉
+marxxmann Well said mate.Couldn’t agree more.
NEVER NEVER NEVER LEAVE YOUR PASSPORT, DON’T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
best tip for buying things in thailand, stop, look at it, show just enough interest for them to try and sell it to you, say you dont want it, the price drops a couple hundred or thousand baht, say you still dont want or need it, the price drops further, start to walk away, the price all of a sudden becomes extremely reasonable
True advice, haggling is great if you are on a budget but please don’t abuse this, keep in mind that these vendors still have to make money to provide for their families. 🙂
Asian Procrastination they won’t sell it for a loss anyway mate
Pumpui Falang Just like how Collin Abroadcast does it in China.
Doesnt work for me in thailand. But it worked in southern africa
I’m Thai and I would like to say Bangkok is the first city you should avoid. lots of scams way too many people living there , crazy traffic etc. I hated it so bad even if I’m Thai not only Bangkok also Pattaya Phuket and many more
In Thailand the more touristic the more scams you will find Sorry for my English
+Watcharin Rueangrakrian Your English is great. But Bangkok Phuket can be fun for a tourist. We tourists know it’s a scam. But we don’t care. We are in a tropical paradise. Personally I loved the islands more . Samui and ko phangan was our favorites. Especially the pancakes at 11:00 pm in a little village in Ko Phangan
+AL eng I know that can be fun for tourists. But I also feel very sorry for tourists who get in troubles by those scams. 🙂
+Watcharin Rueangrakrian Scams? Yes sometimes.
We have scams in America. That is the world. But Thailand is Beautiful. I know you are Thai and you might not see it that way, But as an American who spent a lot of money there we thoroughly enjoyed Thailand.
U must visit bali there is no scam
I crashed a motorbike in Thailand took it to a bike repair shop got it fixed myself with second hand parts so it wasn’t an obvious repair cost me 300 baht took it back to the hire place and got my deposit back in full 2000 baht NEVER GIVE YOUR PASPORT this is illegal because it belongs to your country of origin government not you. And good advice about the taxi never go if they don’t put on the meter if they show a fixed price card tell them you will find another taxi they usually know you know and back down speak some Thai if you can that always helps happy holidays people
You forgot to mention about the Tuk Tuk scam.
is that an Egyptian scam?
+darrendelong ALWAYS.and i do mean ALWAYS negotiate a fixed price,b4 you get into a tuk-tuk 😉
+darrendelong Tuk Tuk Darren.
+peesua Corrected. Thanks.
Hi I’m thai dont know how to say but even thai ppl got scrammed too ..
Hi! What’s farang?
Ferrang or farang is the Thai word for foreigners 😉
Agree. Thailand is not the only country scamming tourists. Americans get scammed by other Americans all the time. It’s all about knowing what’s going on. It’s usually much easier to scam a foreigner than a local. The world over, taxi drivers are probably the most common scam artists of all.
it not farang is mean potato eater
GAMING ????
So much for “white privilege.”
The number of Chinese immigrants illegally crossing the Mexican border into California has skyrocketed in recent years, the result of a lucrative smuggling industry, mass migration from China and a diversifying pool of migrants settling in the United States.
LATimes, 6/7/2016
+Lewis Goudy yep they swam from China. What a dumb racist comments. It’s the same analogy Donald ” Hitler ” Trump uses. That Mexicans are coming across the borders. when the majority of people coming across the borders are from Countries in south America that the United States over thrown their Government. The wars in the country of Columbia is due to the addiction (Cocaine) to drugs by the American people. I wonder how they know it’s Chinese? when most south Americans natives look like Chinese. They are the same people. Black hair, brown eyes, small in size. That’s most south Americans and chinese. ?
+S Li Are you saying my excerpting from the Los Angeles Times was racist, or that the writer for that newspaper was?
BTW it’s “Colombia” not “Columbia”.
Lewis Goudy
The guy who starts throwing the word racist around is almost always the true racist. And most south Americans do not look chinese.
what about the scam of paying for a girl and getting a lady boy?
Hello, nobody to blame , just you ! No scam here. You must ask to the girl “you are girl ? You are Ladyboy ?” And all is OK.
some are obvious, some are less obvious…and a lot of LB’s want a foreigner boyfriend as they want to escape from thailand to live in paris or some other high fashion place..which is their dream. So if they can pull off the high pitch female voice to perfection, get enough stuff changed so they look the part…do not expect them to then throw it all away when a handsome farang asks them if they are a LB or a real girl. Cause few would. +Hasim Verty Best choice is to get a real gf, date, then when you start to get close enough to be intimate…do a check under the hood. If she takes it wrong, apologize as you were just aroused by her beauty and delicious sexual overtures while making out. if you’re doing a p2p(pay to play aka prostitution) then i would say you’re just going to have to go with the roll of the dice…same for STD’s too. lol By the way most of the ladies of the night avoid arabic, indian customers as they are known to be too violent or abusive and argue the price afterwards or before even if a price had been agreed to beforehand. you’re just all dicks like that I guess.
Hasim Verty ??
Hasim Verty ?
Then your getting something extra for no extra charge.
Okay I gotta comment on that topic too. I was in Thailand this year and I had the best time of my life. Scams happen and there are shitty people out there, but if you’re always friendly and nice to the locals then you will get treated good. If you have a bad attitude or discuss a lot about prices and beeing angry then they wont like you.
Of course it’s important to be vigilant and thinking twice about renting something is important, but don`t get scared of Thailand if the media tells you it’s a dangerous place. They overdramatise it by a lot.
I have never met locals who are so nice and open to tourists. It`s the best country I have been travelled so far and I guaranteed will come back one day.
The anti-scam taxi driver: when I first went to Phuket I knew about most of the scams just from studying information about the country I wanted to visit. I told the taxi driver what i read and that I’m fine with paying some extra baht if he drives safely abd while driving he gave me lot of helpful information and asked me if he cab have my phone number to keep in touch even if I go back home. I had a prepaid number anyway so didnt care. The next day he called me abd asked me if i need something. I said thanks, I’m fine. Then he asked again: you don’t need your wallet?? What a honest guy. I lost it in his taxi somehow and was very happy i got it back. We’re still texting and I’ll drive with him again in 2 weeks.
Alain Pfaeffli wpt
I just came from there first night i lost my I phone in taxi and its gone since then
Hey Guys, who wants the honest Taxi’s number. I’m Thai and despite scam, there are many honest people in Phuket, my good friend Peter, work as Tour Operator, he knows many good Taxi drivers. His Thai name is Nitikorn 081-131-3633 you can call him for advice with or without using his Boss’ tour, you may also want to get him to take your family pictures. it will look FAB because he is a professional photographer.
Vai Siri Thank you Vai!
You are very welcome!
Another tip – If anyone asks if this is your 1st trip to Thailand always say no, they will always try to charge you more or take advantage of you.
If you go to Bo Bae indoor Market in Bangkok you can buy all the Tshirts and crap that you want at cost price, this is were all the street vendors get the stock from so you can buy tshirts and tops for 50/100 Baht.
Wait! Are you a tuk tuk driver?
A tip, when you film the scooter/bike that you are renting try to film around the location where you are and even try to get the guy who rents it out to you on film. That way there are no ways for them to say it’s another bike or another location.
I did that, but make sure you have the sales guy in it, or they will say you filmed it latter. Also they should mark everything on paper give you a copy.
Phuket airport shuttle scam:. The airport shuttle vans usually take tourists to a travel agent before drop you off at the hotel. Please don’t buy anything from room to island tour, it is going to cost you double! Don’t buy anything thereThanks for sharing
